Newborough Forest & Beach

Less than 5 minutes drive away is the beautiful Newborough Forest, its two wonderful sandy beaches’ and
the iconic Llandwyn Island with a variety of sandy coves.



Adjacent to the forest is one of Europe’s largest sand dune complexes known as Newborough Warren and on the other the bird watchers paradise of Malltreath Bay.

The two fine sandy beach’s stretch for several miles either side of Llandwyn Island. Discover ship wrecks along the foreshore.

The forest also hosts red squirrels and one of the UK’s largest colonies of ravens which has featured in several BBC Spring / Autumn Watch programmes.

We provide an access key to the forest and beach to avoid the small toll.

The forest measures in excess of 6 square miles and has trails for walking, cycling and horse riding. There are also some interesting geological trails.

For those who wish to cycle in the forest we have available 2 adult mountain bikes (bring own safety equipment).

Passes for horse riding in the forest and on one of the beach’s can be obtained locally from Tal y Foel riding centre www.tal-y-foel.co.uk.



Llandwyn Island voted as the most picturesque mooring in the UK for yacht’s has a host of small sandy coves. The film Half Light starring Demi Moore was filmed here, and during 2009 was a location set for "Clash of the Titans".

The Anglesey coastal path runs through the forest and along the foreshore.

There are dog restrictions on part of the beach and Llandwyn Island between May and September.
